The beginning of the school year is an incredibly busy time of the year. Despite the workload ahead of all of you, it is imperative that schools start their year well. With this in mind, we’ve developed the following 2019 Semester 1 Checklists for teachers, school leaders and those new to PLD which should greatly assist during this busy time.

Semester One Programs

Am I equipped with sufficient programs, to deliver effective explicit instructions to the students in my care?  The following programs are essential for Semester 1:

Do I have the current PLD screening formats? Each screen is available to download direct from the PLD site. To link to the current assessment formats click here. PLD recommends that the Early Years testing is placed on the PLD tracking sheets, which can be requested here. General instructions and samples can be located here.

Essential Programs

Do your classes have sufficient and up to date copies of the ‘essential’ PLD programs?

  • Option 1: Print off a PLD accessioned list of programs within the school and send these through to PLD here. We will put together a quote featuring the essential programs that you still require.
  • Option 2: Consider trading in and updating the PLD range with a 20% discount. This can be easily done using the online form found here. You can find more information on this process here.
  • Option 3: Consider extending the range of programs being implemented within the school. Send a completed General Enquiry Form to [email protected] and we will be in touch.

First Reading Books

Is it time to update the home reading books in the junior primary? Related to this point, have you established a plan to begin to phase out ‘whole language’ type reading books and replace them with decodable readers?
