How Do You Know That Students Are Reaching Their Developmental Milestones?

While all children develop at different times, there is an expected sequence of developmental milestones children should be reaching. PLD has provided handy downloadable milestone guides for children aged 6 months through to 12 years.ย

Designed by speech pathologists, occupational therapists and educators, the comprehensive guides give an overview of the Oral Language, Literacy and Motor developmental milestones your children are predicted to achieve within each age range. However, please keep in mind that every childโ€™s development is unique and complex and a child may not follow these developmental guides exactly.ย

It is important to consider the individual child when using these milestones. Teachers and parents can use these milestones and the associated tips and activity ideas to:

  1. Gain a sense of your childโ€™s strengths and areas requiring development.
  2. Get tips for helping your child to develop strong Oral Language, Literacy and Motor skills.
  3. Suggestions for within the home. These milestones are an ideal resource to download and photocopy to give to parents at the start of the new school year.
