Two-Day Seminar: What to Expect
The seminar outlines how to implement PLD’s evidence-based Structured Synthetic Phonics (SSP) programs within the middle and upper primary.
Attendees will gain the knowledge, tools and processes to implement explicit, systematic instruction that builds strong early literacy foundations across Years 3-6.
The seminar outlines how to administer the PLD Screening Tools as progress checks, designed to monitor code-based literacy acquisition. Once screening is completed, results are recorded in PLD Tracking Sheets and used to establish targeted teaching groups.
The seminar outlines the weekly task overview for Monday through to Friday and the full lesson-block structure.
The seminar includes a short workshop segment for coaching with PLD class testing results. If you (or your school) are currently implementing PLD, remember to bring an EXCEL downloaded copy of the PLD tracking sheets. With access to the class testing profile, attendees will maximise coaching opportunities during the session and leave with a classroom-ready plan for the upcoming term.
The two-day seminar is delivered as two full-day sessions one week apart during the school term. This format supports guided SSP implementation using PLD, followed by coaching and planning workshops. The spacing creates a practical implementation window: between sessions, participants can apply PLD assessments and/or routines in their own classroom, refine practice, analyse classroom data, and build a personalised, term-ready plan using a three-tiered teaching model. On the second day, participants return for coaching-style feedback, support, and next-steps planning, ensuring the seminar translates into practical, in-class implementation.
