One-Day Seminar: What to Expect
The seminar outlines how to implement PLD’s evidence-based Structured Synthetic Phonics (SSP) programs within the Early Years (ECE). The seminar presents teaching demonstrations and routines that build strong pre-literacy, oral language and motor function for school readiness.
The seminar delivers core SSP training using PLD for educators working in the Early Years (ECE) – the years before formal schooling (3 – 4 years of age). The seminar content complements play-based learning with intentional, short, explicit routines that build pre-literacy, motor and oral language foundations, preparing children for their first formal year of schooling. This approach aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), integrating intentional teaching within play-based learning across school-based Kindergarten/Preschool and Early Childhood Centres.
The seminar outlines how to administer the PLD Screening Tools as quick progress checks, designed to monitor phonological skills and alphabet-sound development. Once screening is completed, results are recorded in PLD Tracking Sheets and form the basis of establishing targeted teaching groups. The seminar includes a short workshop segment for coaching with PLD class testing results. If you (or your school) are currently implementing PLD, remember to bring an EXCEL downloaded copy of the PLD tracking sheets. With access to the class testing profile, attendees will maximise coaching opportunities during the session and leave with a classroom-ready plan for the upcoming term.
