Professional Learning Seminars Across Australia

PLD provides professional learning for primary school teachers, support staff and school leaders, focused on the effective implementation of an Australian, evidence-based approach to Structured Synthetic Phonics (SSP). Aligned with the Science of Reading, PLD’s SSP programs span from junior primary through to upper primary, supporting a cohesive whole-school approach.

To suit different budgets, locations, and school needs, PLD offers a range of training options delivered in-person and online. Each option covers the same core content but varies in format, duration, and cost – allowing schools to choose the model that works best for them.

With national delivery reaching metropolitan, regional, and remote schools, and esteemed collaborations with SPELD organisations across the country, PLD extends its impact to classrooms Australia-wide.

Two-Day Training Seminars (In-Person or Online)

These two-day sessions are delivered across a fortnight, one week apart, during the school term. This option provides a practical implementation window between Day 1 and Day 2. In the first session, guided workshops focus on classroom tracking sheets and profiles, with the opportunity for participants to plan and trial PLD assessments and routines in their own classrooms between sessions. On the second day, participants return for coaching-style feedback, data analysis, and next-steps planning – supporting confident classroom implementation of PLD’s SSP.

One-Day Training Seminars (In-Person or Online)

The single-day intensive seminars are scheduled exclusively during each of the school term holiday breaks, making them accessible for regional participants and alleviating staffing pressures during the teaching term. The one-day training provides participants with the core knowledge and skills to get started using PLD’s SSP programs. Educators are guided through the screening and tracking tools to create practical plans, and those attending with class data leave with classroom-ready programs for the term ahead.

After-School Online Workshops

These 90-minute, weekly after-school workshops deliver the implementation of content across five (5) sessions, allowing for a more comprehensive, step-by-step guide on how to implement PLD’s SSP programs. Delivered in short, focused sessions that fit within busy teaching schedules, the format allows a practical window between sessions for participants to apply assessments, analyse class data, and trial daily routines. Each week, participants return for coaching-style feedback and collegial discussion, gaining valuable real-time insights and next-steps training – supporting confident classroom implementation of PLD’s SSP.
