Narrative Retelling Program Fact Sheet

Year Level: Early Years, Foundation, Year 1 & 2, Years 3 to 6

Here is a 4-day plan that you can use in school or at home to help your children develop their narrative telling skills. Over an 8 – 12 week period the task of story retelling should greatly improve. Children should provide more information about the story, use more complex sentences, more complex vocabulary and retell stories with much greater confidence and ease.

    Initially, all four-year-olds will require support with activity retells. However if after a period of teaching they appear anxious or produce inadequate information then they may need additional support and repetition to further develop their skills.
