Back To School Checklist

The beginning of the school year is an incredibly busy time of the year. Despite the workload ahead of all of you, it is imperative that schools start their year well. With this in mind, we’ve developed the following Term 1 essential Back To School Checklist for teachers, school leaders and those new to PLD which should greatly assist during this busy time.

Back To School Checklist

1. Do I have the current PLD screening tools? Each of the PLD Screens has been updated and they are available to download directly in the Early Years Screening & Tracking Manual.

2. Do I have the current PLD Tracking Sheets? PLD recommends that the Early Years testing is placed on the PLD Tracking Sheets, which can be requested here. For step-by-step instructions on how you can establish a consistent screening and tracking process in Term 1, click here.

3. Have I downloaded and read all of the relevant PLD information for Early Years? These downloads include the Early Years Teaching Sequence Manual and The Pathway of Pre-Literacy into Early Literacy along with the Early Years developmental milestones I should expect my students to be achieving. These handouts are great to use as a reference guide or to hand out to parents at the beginning of the school year.

4. Have I shared the PLD process with the parents in my classroom? PLD believes that school and home must work together in order to have an effective start to the Early Years. PLD has created a range of Early Years parent information videos that are available to view and share here.

5. Have I read through PLD’s Term 1 Teaching Sequence? This guide covers a week-by-week outline tailored to your requirements in conjunction with our downloadable Teaching Sequence Manual.
